Frozen cord.

چکیده

A 30-year-old man with Ewing sarcoma presented with an enlarging metastatic osseous lesion involving the T10 vertebral body. Percutaneous cryoablation was performed under CT guidance for local tumor control; immediately following, he developed paraplegia. Early and delayed cord imaging show cryoablation-related injury (figures 1 and 2). The procedure involves targeted freezing of tissue to approximately 240°C and is usually safe for lesions involving the anterior vertebral body distant from the cord. Distant thermal effects with a temperature as low as 0°C can occur, however, up to 5 cm from the site of treatment.

Tumefactive demyelination of the spinal cord.

Demyelinating lesions of the brain have been frequently reported to mimic tumors, whereas very few cases of tumefactive demyelination of the spine have been reported. We report a patient with tumefactive demyelination of the spinal cord who was clinically, by MRI, and by frozen section diagnosed with tumor and had complete surgical resection. Hence patients with spinal cord lesions suspicious o...

Examination of frozen cross sections of cervical spinal intersegments in nine horses with cervical vertebral malformation: lesions associated with spinal cord compression.

Nine horses with clinical and radiographic findings of cervical vertebral malformation that were necropsied and examined using frozen cervical spinal cord cross sections were reviewed. Only cases with actual distortion of the spinal cord due to compression were selected. The goal of the study was to determine the morphologic features responsible for narrowing of the spinal canal and compression...

Frozen section of placental membranes and umbilical cord: an aid to early postpartum diagnosis of intra-amniotic infection.

OBJECTIVES We devised a rapid frozen section (FS) assessment technique of placental tissues and performed the first rigorous assessment of FS relative to conventional workup. METHODS We evaluated 49 placentas with clinical/gross suspicion of intra-amniotic infection by FS. Relative to formalin-fixed and paraffin-embedded tissues, we compared the grading, staging, and interobserver variability...

Frozen Cord Blood Hematopoietic Stem Cells Differentiate into Higher Numbers of Functional Natural Killer Cells In Vitro than Mobilized Hematopoietic Stem Cells or Freshly Isolated Cord Blood Hematopoietic Stem Cells

Adoptive natural killer (NK) cell therapy relies on the acquisition of large numbers of NK cells that are cytotoxic but not exhausted. NK cell differentiation from hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) has become an alluring option for NK cell therapy, with umbilical cord blood (UCB) and mobilized peripheral blood (PBCD34(+)) being the most accessible HSC sources as collection procedures are less inva...
